What it does
A PoE switch carries power and data to networked kit down a single Ethernet run, which matters when a reader or camera sits above a doorway with no socket within reach. Use it to bring RFID readers, IP cameras and network-connected EAS gates back to one cabinet in the stockroom. That also gives you one point to put behind a UPS, instead of chasing protected power to every ceiling mount.
