The problem it solves

The pedestals at your door are the single most visible loss-prevention decision you will make. They have to catch what leaves unpaid, ignore what does not, and look like they belong in your store.

An EAS gate detects a live security tag crossing the exit and alarms before the merchandise reaches the street. The physics are simple; getting them right in a real doorway is not. Door width, floor material, nearby escalators, LED lighting, refrigeration compressors and even a neighbouring tenant's system all shift how a pedestal behaves.

RATS BD surveys the doorway before recommending anything. We measure the aisle, check the electrical environment for interference, and specify the detection technology that suits your merchandise mix — then tune sensitivity on site until false alarms stop and real ones do not.

    AM (acousto-magnetic) at 58 kHz

    The widest detection aisle and the best tolerance for metal and foil. The default for grocery, hypermarket and mixed-merchandise floors.

    RF (radio frequency) at 8.2 MHz

    Cheaper consumables and slimmer pedestals. Well suited to apparel and fashion where soft labels dominate.

    Hybrid AM + RF

    One pedestal that reads both tag families — the practical answer when a group runs different systems across its brands.

    Alarm and traffic logging

    Event counts by hour and door, so you can prove where and when shrinkage pressure is highest.

How wide an aisle can a single pair of pedestals cover?

AM systems typically hold detection across 1.2–1.8 m per pair depending on tag type and environment; wider doors are covered by adding pedestals in series. We confirm the achievable aisle during the site survey rather than quoting a catalogue number.

Will the gates false-alarm on phones, laptops or trolleys?

Not once they are tuned. False alarms almost always trace back to sensitivity set blind, a nearby interference source, or live tags left on returned stock. All three are addressed at commissioning.

Can you service pedestals another supplier installed?

Yes. We carry spares and service AM and RF systems regardless of who supplied them, including Sensormatic and Checkpoint estates.
