RFID Elevator Access Control Solution

Description

RFID Elevator Access Control Solution

1.1. Card Issuance & Floor Programming:Reception / Security Desk.

  • An individual arrives at the front desk or security counter.

  • An assistant (receptionist/security guard) uses an RFID Desktop Encoder/Writer connected to the Access Control System (ACS) software.

  • The assistant selects the requested/authorized floors and active time window in the software, then taps a blank RFID card on the encoder to write or pair the permissions to that card.

  • The card is handed to the individual.

2.2. Elevator Entry & Authentication:Inside the Elevator Cab.

  • The individual enters the elevator and taps the assigned RFID card against the cab’s reader.

  • The controller checks the card ID against the programmed permissions.

  • Result: The system unlocks only the specific floor button(s) programmed by the assistant (or automatically sends the elevator to that floor).

3.3. Access Expiration & Card Return:Exit / Ground Floor.

  • Once the individual finishes their business and prepares to leave the building, they return to the lobby/exit area.

  • Manual Return: The card is handed back to the assistant, who clears/deallocates the card permissions in the software so it can be reused.

  • Automated Return (Dropbox/Turnstile): In many automated buildings, the exit turnstile features a card-drop collector slot. The individual inserts the card into the slot to open the exit gate; the system automatically revoked elevator rights and safely stores the card for the next visitor.

Key Hardware Used for This Specific Workflow

  • Desktop USB RFID Encoder: Used by the assistant to quickly scan and assign/revoke card privileges.

  • Visitor Management Software (VMS): Keeps a strict log linking the visitor’s identity/contacts to the specific card ID and floor access granted.

  • Capture Readers / Smart Dropboxes: (Optional) Automated exit turnstiles that retain the card upon leaving, ensuring visitors don’t accidentally walk away with access passes.

Here are the primary benefits your customers will get from using your product:

    1. Absolute Building Security & Privacy

    • Prevents Unauthorized Floor Access: Visitors, unauthorized personnel, or intruders cannot wander freely across different floors.

    • Eliminates Tailgating Risks: Even if someone enters the elevator behind an employee, they cannot press any floor button without scanning a pre-authorized RFID card.

    • Floor Isolation: Ideal for multi-tenant commercial towers (e.g., in Gulshan or Motijheel) where companies want complete privacy on their rented floors.

    2. Total Visitor & Contractor Control

    • Time-Bound Permissions: Receptionists can program cards to work only during specific hours or days (e.g., a maintenance contractor whose card expires after 5:00 PM).

    • Instant Revocation: If a visitor loses a card or overstays their welcome, their access can be revoked immediately in the software without replacing hardware locks.

    • Automated Card Recovery: Using optional exit dropboxes, cards are returned automatically at turnstiles before visitors leave, eliminating lost or stolen access cards.

    3. Real-Time Audit Trails & Accountability

    • Detailed Activity Logs: The system logs every card scan with precise timestamps (Who went to Floor 15 at what time?).

    • Incident Investigation: In case of theft, property damage, or security breaches, building management can quickly pull event logs to identify who was on that floor.

    • Compliance & Monitoring: Helps factories (RMGs) and corporate offices meet strict international security and audit standards.

    4. Operational Efficiency & Energy Savings

    • Reduced Elevator Wear & Tear: Prevents unnecessary elevator trips caused by unauthorized individuals or children playing with floor buttons.

    • Lower Energy Costs: Minimizes extra elevator runs, reducing electricity bills for high-rise buildings over time.

    • Smooth Front-Desk Operations: Streamlines visitor registration with quick desktop card encoding (taking less than 10 seconds per visitor).

    5. Emergency Readiness & Safety

    • Fire Alarm System Integration ($FAS$): In the event of a fire or emergency signal, the system automatically unlocks all floor buttons and overrides access restrictions to allow fast evacuation.

    • Custom VIP & Executive Modes: Priority service or direct destination dispatch can be granted to company executives or high-profile guests
